Of the Soil

Entice me with ephemeral Spring
and deep, expansive seas.
Beckon with your sacred wind
that spins among the leaves.
Wash over me, enrapture me
and make me feel small.
I am all but endowed to you
lovely, lively sprawl!

Rivers mimic fleshy veins
buried beneath my soil
of skin and bone and flowing life.
For this simple frame you toil
day and night; you never rest.
I bow and I conceive
that you do not depend on me,
but me you choose feed.
